Biography
Jacquelyn Garcia is a filmmaker from Houston, Texas. Specializing in gothic aesthetic, her films always seem to carry an endearing and relatable sense of character. Starting off with her first ever short film, a clay stop-motion animated piece titled "Winona's Monster", which tells the story of a girl and her personal monster that follows her to school. Jacquelyn quickly established her stylings and sensibilities. "Winona's Monster" was awarded Best Film at the Hogg Foundation Short Film Competition in 2022 and made it's Houston premiere in 2025. Following "Winona's Monster" she co-directed a project with her partner and long-time collaborator Eli Fischer. The two of them created the short film "Apollo: The Space Dog" which was created for the NASA Cinespace Film Competition. The film tells the story of a dog that attempts to break the monotony of his life by venturing into space. The film premiered in Houston at the River Oaks Theater in 2024.
